Metal working fluids

come in various formulations, from petroleum oils to water-based fluids like soluble oils and semisynthetic/synthetic fluids. These fluids are complex mixtures of oils, emulsifiers, anti-weld agents, corrosion inhibitors, extreme pressure additives, buffers (alkaline reserve), biocides, and other additives. During usage, the fluid complexity is compounded by contamination from tramp oils, hydraulic fluids, and particulate matter from grinding and machining operations. Moreover, water-based metalworking fluids foster microbial growth, resulting in biological contaminants such as bacterial and fungal cells.
